I don't enjoy estrangement. This was not the plan.
But it is the lesser of two evils.
It’s the only way I get to keep myself.
”You need you more than you need them.”
Yeah, but it still hurts.

Gender reveal parties are misnomers. They are sex reveal parties. And they set non-binary folks and their families up for pain.

It is not safe to microwave food in plastic. When preparing a frozen meal, it’s usually easy to plink it down on a ceramic plate first.
My favorite frozen meals (I have eaten many):

2. Evol Portabella and Goat Cheese Ravioli
3. Trader Joe's Vegetable Biryani

If you have a 401K or a 403b and you have not investigated the individual holdings of your investment portfolio, you are giving money to corporations you may not want to support.
Once a year, I do a deep dive in my 403b and see where my money is, and reinvest it where I ethically want it to go.
Takes a couple hours, but it is worth it!! So empowering!!
If you do this, let me know how it goes for you.

6.20.2020
No one owns or owned slaves.
They enslaved people.
They may have called themselves masters.
But they were no such thing.
They were enslavers.
Maybe we need a new word for these people.
How about Repuges.
How about Disgusdges.
How about Ignorastards.
Horrorians.
Terroriates.
Brutalists.
Until we get a good one, we could just go with White Terrorists.

6.19.2020
Happy Juneteenth.
May I learn from the horrors of our past.
And remember.

The answer: it's difficult or impossible for folks in these three groups to vote.

Working at UPMC during the 2016 election, I tried to find a route for my hospitalized patients to vote, and was met with dead ends. I spent hours and was unable to get any of them the right to vote. And it brought me to the next logical sequence:

- People of color have higher rates of adverse childhood events.
- Folks who have had more adverse childhood experiences have higher rates of chronic illness.
-Folks with chronic illness have a higher rate of hospitalization.
-Folks in the hospital have a very hard time voting.

Here is the ACLU Felony Disenfranchisement Laws page, highlighting the marked discrepancies state to state regarding voting in jail and/or with a felony.

6.10.2020
People in the hospital, people in jail, people who have had felonies...what do they all have in common? Send the answer through my contact page for a chance to win a copy of my book.

6.7.2020
The end does not justify the means.
The means are reality.

Happy Anniversary, Honey.

6.4.2020
You don’t know what you don’t know
Until you’ve been there; until you go

If you lay on your back, you put pressure on a tiny tube called the thoracic duct. This is the tunnel that connects 3/4 of the body’s lymphatic system (immune system, fluid) with the bloodstream. So laying in your back means you may get more swelling through the body, more pain, more difficulty healing from infection.

If you are infected with Covid-19, surgical masks do not prevent Covid-19 from escaping. They actually seem to work like a sieve. Short of N-95 and more secure, Triple layer cotton masks look like our best bet.
